This is one of those meals you can cook if you’re on a tight budget.

Since I got the recipe from market manila , I’ll not cook this with bagoong… but I’ll be adding chicaron in it!


  • squash, cubed
  • string beans, cut
  • onions, chopped
  • green long chilis, sliced in half
  • coconut milk (gata)
  • chicaron


  • boil down coconut milk to a thicker consistency.
  • add chilis and onions.
  • add cubed squash, cover. let it simmer a bit. season fish sauce (patis) to taste.
  • next the string beans. then add some water if needed.
  • put in chicaron. let it simmer until desired texture of the vegetables are achieved.

Don’t over cook the vegetables.  It’s more delicious when its crunchy or something… :)

Not everybody I know likes to eat bitter gourd (ampalaya), but my little baby does…

  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 2 medium-sized bitter gourd (ampalaya)
  • 1/4 kilo ground pork (giniling)
  • pork cube cut in half
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • soy sauce to taste


  • Boil the ground pork until water dries out.
  • Cut the medium size bitter gourd, garlic and onion into strips.
  • Sautee the garlic until golden brown, put the onion, the ground pork and the pork cube. Then soy sauce to taste. Cover. After 2-3 mins, mix the bitter gourd, cover again. Don’t over cook the vegetable. After 3-5 mins, put in the beat egg, then mix.
  • Let it simmer for about 3-5 mins.  Or cook until your desired taste.

Welcome to my Food/Cooking Blog (somewhat health blog)!

I have created this blog for wanting to share my experience of having fun and learning, in the process, to cook different menus for my family.

Menus that I cook may sometimes be cheap or budgeted, fancy or extravagant, I tell you, the quality or taste of the foods I cook would not be compromised… of course, I’m cooking for my family here and their judgement is very important to me.

I may or may not post the ingredients or the procedures I’ve done with the menu, because I’m not used to cooking with measurement, I sometimes based it on my instinct or my taste buds. ;)

Anyway, I’ll be transferring some menus I made before from my previous food blog so it may take a while… hope you could bear with me.
