The Cutie Patootie

at

We were just doing a little photoshoot in the bedroom the other day because he looked so cute in his shirt and Lakers shorts given to him last Christmas.

I just let him sit down on the bed and I waited for him to laugh, and smile, to his heart’s desire, and I just let my finger do the clicking of the camera.  ^_^

Since the two teeth erupted last month, and because he is eight months old, if not frequent, the little boy gets to eat something new and healthy.

We started with a cereal, Cerelac Wheat & Milk, as he reached seven months old and now, after vegetables, we are introducing watermelon to the little guy.

According to studies, watermelons are a very healthy choice of food for our kids.  They have good amount of vitamins and minerals which includes vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, niacin, folate, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, manganese, copper and zinc.

Here are other health information of the fruit watermelon.

Watermelons contain lycopene (it’s what gives the melon its red color) which is an antioxidant linked to reducing the risk of age related diseases. Watermelon is also rich in other carotenoids such as lycopene, phytofluene, phytoene, beta-carotene, lutein, and neurosporene. They may also help to prevent cardio vascular disease. Beta- carotene aids vision and healthy eye development.

Watermelon seeds are an excellent source of protein and oil. A watermelon seed is broken down into approximately 50% oil, 40% protein and 10% fiber. A watermelon seed is also rich in nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorous and zinc.

Aside from its nutritional value, a cold watermelon is a great choice especially if the baby is already teething.  This is also a great cold fruit during hot days.  Just make sure it is in small pieces or mash it up so the babies will not get choked up with this fruit.

Another thing, if we, the parents, have concerns about giving solids to our babies, consulting your physician is the best way to be safe.

I don’t know if I’ll be considering this a baby milestone or not…  Hmm, but I guess I should because baby Matti is trying new things with his body.

I suppose all babies do this because Little Zoie have done this during her baby year.  I’m just so amazed how flexible can a baby’s body become and can do almost anything when it comes to bending.

So cute!  ^_^

The little boy is really growing up and I am both feeling happy and sad about this…

Happy because he, himself is a great gift from God.  Seeing him grow, both my kids grow healthy, is already a success for a mom like me.  Sad, because he is growing.  My baby is growing to be a big boy.  Sheesh, see how time so fly very fast.

Let’s review his  milestone/s during his 5th-month.

  • During his 3rd month, he learned how to turn to his tummy.  We call it ‘tummy-time’.  Now, he can turn to his tummy and back again lying down.  His routine:  belly, back.  Belly, back.  Haha!
  • Vaccines may not be up to date, but he sure is getting them.
  • Still a breastfeed baby.

So far, he is a healthy and happy little baby boy! ^_^
